Our Objectives

To advance global health through excellence in Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine (PRM) education, promoting evidence-based rehabilitation practices that align with WHO’s goals of universal health coverage, disability inclusion, and sustainable development. The ECPRM collaborates with the European Board of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine (EBPRM) on educational and scientific matters relevant to the specialty of PRM to establish European standards that enhance rehabilitation outcomes and reduce the global burden of disability (Please see detailed objectives below).

The ECPRM’s (the Foundation) objectives are:

  1. To ensure highest possible level of care in terms of rehabilitation and functioning of patients in the countries of the European Community through education and training in PRM via the following:
    • Contribution to drawing up basic standards for a joint training programme needed for the training of future Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine (PRM) physicians, in collaboration with the European Board of PRM
    • Educational activities to enhance knowledge of PRM physicians
    • Training of Trainers for excellence in PRM training
    • Support for European Board of PRM Examinations that serves for harmonization of PRM training across Europe
  2. Protecting international/European title of specialist in Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine and its professional status in society.
  3. Organisation and support, by all possible means, for the exchange and dissemination of information on subjects concerning PRM among PRM physicians (e.g. through multimedia channels)
  4. Cooperation with major PRM bodies including European Board of PRM, UEMS PRM Section, European Academy of Rehabilitation Medicine, and the European Society of PRM to join forces for promoting PRM and eventually for serving better to the needs of people with disabilities
  5. Engagement in the activities of international organizations for the benefit of people with disabilities

  7. The above objectives of the Foundation (ECPRM) are to be understood in the broadest sense of the word.
